REM forced to move Cardiff show due to poor ticket sales

REM's upcoming gig at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium has been switched to a smaller indoor venue in the Welsh city subsequently sluggish ticket sales.


The demonstrate, due to take place on August 25, will instead be at the nearby Cardiff International Arena. Tickets are still valid, but fans can get a refund if they wish.


About 18,000 tickets had already been sold for the stadium, against a capacity for the show of about 35,000.

Bob Gold, the band's European manager, told the BBC sales had not met expectations and it was decided it was punter for the band and the audience to move into "a smaller, more intimate venue".

They can function their stadium tickets, or get a refund, and have been offered discounts on other REM shows at Twickenham and Southampton.

REM play four shows on the second leg of their European turn, having already played a headline one-armed bandit at the T In The Park festival in Scotland last month (July 13).

Mindy Mccready - Mccready Released From Jail After Probation Violation


Fallen country music star MINDY MCCREADY has been released on bail following yet another arrest, this time for violating the terms of her probation, according to reports.

MCCready turned herself into authorities in Williamson County, Tennessee on Monday evening (23Jun08) and posted bail two hours later, according to website TMZ.com.

Police officials have reported to the site that MCCready was suspected of falsifying information on her community service report.

The singer was released from jail last December (07) after serving a six month sentence following an earlier parole violation after allegedly assaulting her mother.

The retro-leaning pop/rock lot Rooney is comprised of Robert Carmine (vocals/guitar), Taylor Locke (guitar), Matt Winter (bass), Louie Stephens (keyboards), and Ned Brower (drums). Inspired by the Beach Boys, ELO, Superdrag, and the quintet's hometown of Los Angeles, Rooney held their earlier practices in Locke's service department in 2000. From the start, however, the mathematical group enjoyed connections that most garage bands deficiency: Carmine is the younger brother of actor/ex-Phantom Planet drummer Jason Schwartzman (not to mention the boy of actress Talia Shire, cousin of Nicholas Cage, and nephew of Francis Ford Coppola), and both he and Brower had previously enjoyed acting careers (Brower briefly starred opposite Katie Holmes in Dawson's Creek, while Carmine enjoyed medium-sized roles in The Princess Diaries and The Virgin Suicides). The connections paying off, and Rooney made their live debut opening for Phantom Planet in 2002.

Rolling Stones - Richards Not A Bowie Fan

ROLLING STONES star KEITH RICHARDS has ridiculed fellow British rocker DAVID BOWIE for his love of attention-seeking.

Richards, 64, admits he is "not a huge fan" of Bowie because he would rather pose than perform, reports GigWise.com.

He says, "It's all pose. It's all f**king posing. It's nothing to do with music. He knows it too."

Josh Groban - Groban Takes Dating Tips From Mayer

Singer JOSH GROBAN is attempting to adopt pal JOHN MAYER's carefree attitude to relationships - because he hopes it will lead him to beautiful women.

The 27-year-old has his own theories on why Mayer attracts a string of beauties - including Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly and his current girlfriend Jennifer Aniston.

And Groban is eager to emulate Mayer's success with the opposite sex by copying his friend's "swagger".

He tells People.com, "John's got a swagger that I've noticed. He's got a ?tude (attitude) that I have to try and learn how to get. It's that 'I may talk to you, I may not talk to you,' kind of thing."

But Mayer has played down his babe-magnet status and insists there are no set rules to landing a date with a sexy woman.

He says, "I don't have a secret. I don't think about it like that. I think about it as just being nice. All you have to do is just be polite and treat people really well."
